GM is ordering thousands of suppliers to fully ditch Chinese parts by 2027. Tesla’s doing the same pushing suppliers to leave China immediately or set up shop in Mexico.
This doesn’t feel like normal risk management. The timeline isn’t random either 2027 lines up with what US intelligence says might be the Taiwan flashpoint.
So the two biggest US automakers are rushing to de-China their supply chains on an accelerated timeline… and no one’s saying it out loud, but it’s starting to look like they were quietly told: “get out now, or you won’t be able to later.”
Its not like they would openly discuss such moves with the public is it, but this is a red flag (pun intended).
