    NATO was there for us when we needed them! After we were attacked 9/11/2001, NATO allies went to war with us in Afghanistan, even though they were not attacked. Their soldiers died next to our soldiers. Trumps insults to our most loyal allies in Europe serves no US national interest.

      The EU is well on its way to ‘growing up’ into a super state and thats a process that began (and will continue) without Trump. Any more it really doesn’t look like there will be a collective west in the future, but two or three blocs of different, probably competing, western powers…. which is pretty much what the status quo was for the last few centuries prior to the anomaly that was ww2.
