OR could it have been due to the Islamic revolution, the capturing of American hostages, the failed rescue attempt , the Iranian hostage rescue in the UK ( with actual Iranians! ) , the bombing of the marine barracks in Beirut via Hezbollah… that may have planted seeds for action movies where the USA might win ?
