According to The Gaurdian:
The hard-left France Unbowed’s (LFI) Arnaud Saint-Martin criticised the ban as “a form of digital paternalism” and an “overly simplistic” response to the negative impacts of technology.
On Monday, nine child protection associations urged lawmakers to “hold platforms accountable”, not “ban” children from social media.
Macron has also backed a ban on pupils having mobile phones in high schools.
In 2018, France banned children from using mobile phones in colleges, the schools attended between the ages of 11 and 15.
According to fool49:
The ban is for protecting the adults, not the children. Because the adults are afraid of children. Of children being turned against the authorities, like political and religious leaders. Parents and authorities want to control the children, and the information they have access to. They don't want them to be influenced by information and people they cannot control.
As far as back in childhood as I can remember, adults violated my rights, including violating my mind or body. Unfortunately my memories have lots of gaps, including the first five years of my life. But I am about 95% sure they experimented on me and enslaved me.
So children cannot depend on adults or their parents to protect them. They should be free to organize on the internet, to resist, those who would violate their rights or otherwise hurt them.
Children are humans, with human rights. Their freedom to express themselves, associate with people, and travel, should be protected.

Who remembers the first few years of their lives? I sure don’t.
