SS: Foreign affairs deputy minister David Morrison and national security adviser Nathalie Drouin has said that Canada’s next federal election could see bad actors use AI to interfere. This interference they noted in the previous election came from China trying to influence a Conservative candidate’s campaign and Russia who engaged in foreign interference activities online. In committee Liberal MP Elisabeth Briere asked these two if they were monitoring interference from the United States, to which Drouin said that officials will monitor every instance of interference regardless of its origins. This concern about foreign interference from these countries, specifically the United States, is especially pronounced as Alberta is awaiting an independence referendum to finish collecting signatures.
