  1. SS: The UK’s unemployment rate has reached 5.2%, the highest level since Covid (when unemployment reached 5.3% in late 2020)

This shows the current weak state of the British economy, which could have major implications on the UK’s political future. With a major by-election in Manchester coming up in 2 weeks, followed by local elections in May, the weak economy could harm Labour’s chances and lead to big gains for Reform and the Greens – it is plausible that bad results for Labour in these elections will lead to Keir Starmer’s resignation and a new PM from Labour
