Indian national Nikhil Gupta has pleaded guilty in a Manhattan federal court to charges of murder-for-hire, conspiracy, and money laundering related to a foiled plot to assassinate a Sikh leader in New York. The 54-year-old admitted to working under the direction of an Indian government official to hire an undercover federal agent for the killing, and he now faces a maximum combined sentence of 40 years in prison.
