Someone asked who first came up with revelation of the method and I gave the history of the ideas that led to it, without finding the first usage.
Well I found it.
> widely-circulated excerpt of Downard’s King-Kill/33 (reprinted in Apocalypse Culture (1987)) explicitly uses the phrasing as a label for a process: deeds are hidden, completed, then “slowly revealed” to a passive public—called “the Revelation of the Method.”
>In Hoffman’s Secret Societies and Psychological Warfare (PDF circulating version dated 1989–1992 material), the phrase appears as “revelation of the method” and also as the more formal “Revelation of the Method,” framed as a practice of a “cryptocracy” revealing what it’s doing through public signals/media.
Propaganda + normalization: repeated exposure making extreme actions feel ordinary.
