That Gangster Rap was a deliberate money making endeavor collusion & conspiracy by the record labels, police departments, private prisons, State & Federal courts, lawyers and prosecutors, FBI, and probably even higher ups than that… huge corporations, Italian mafia, CIA, NSA, who knows.
A cultural shift around 1990 after 1 group NWA showed how popular and profitable it could be plus a few others were making gangsterish music around the time 1985-1990. But the genre then was mostly about skills or having fun, party music.
Everyone after 1991-92 at the latest, nearly in all of hip hop, especially major label backed artists, had to change to be more street, more "real", with often more violent and vulgar themes and lyrics. Sure a lot of guys wanted to be like that and make their music, which a lot was great. But it was also coerced. Even MC Hammer, LL Cool J, Vanilla Ice, and Kriss Kross tried to change their style to be more "gangsta".
The underlying idea was , make money, get guys some success out the ghetto was the surface of what they said. But it was to fill the prisons. Influence millions of young black & brown disenfranchised poor youth to be criminals, think it's cool, be supported by their favorite music to act how they do. Fill the morgues also, it will kill off a lot of undesirables before they even grow up. You can't have another Black Panthers or organized revolution group if everyone is shooting at each other, in different gangs, selling crack and heroin in their community making half of everyone useless, and the other half angry and confused. Police could lock up and throw people in profitable private prisons. Rip families and community apart. Women will be bitches & hoes with no self-esteem or self worth. Single mothers, domestic violence, addiction, fights, murder, death. It worked in the black and Latino communities keeping them down, there's no denying it.
It was to have a steady stream of negativity and non productive people for generations. F the police… Well the police (the govt) are secretly going to F you without you even knowing it. An inside job.
And it blew up worldwide not just for ghetto kids but in the suburbs, Pop music MTV, white, Asian, Indian… people international in Russia, Japan… ect were influenced by it, huge fans, and in a lot of ways it changed the world forever. A ton of creativity, amazing wordplay, production, classic artists and songs came out of this though but the underlying reasons were there.
1996 and 1997 murders of 2pac and Biggie I think is when they realized it went too far. The record industry imploded in 1999-2000 trying to reel in the gangsta persona and hip hop became much more like pop music. A lot of my favorite artists changed to a pop sound and I hated it. Then the internet era and everything changed even more. But the "Gangsta" for better or worse, is apart of American culture beyond racial or class lines, it is still there and in the culture forever. Guns, drugs, and sex. I think this conspiracy was real. Still feeling the repercussions.

The CIA financed Hip Hop for social engineering, covert destablization, and to divide us. Songs written for N.W.A. were even scripted by a team of CIA psychologists and war propagandists according to a man who retired from the CIA.
Cause we all know Vanilla Ice was straight from the streets.lol
Same thing with hippies in the 60s.

I always wondered why immigrant groups are brainwashed to hate black Americans for no reason at all. I also wondered why conservative churches are segregated to foster racial hate against blacks
