If it’s true that Khamenei’s son was picked to replace him, then Sepah and “security council” run the show in Iran still because this is who they wanted due to Khamenei’s ties with them. Even though the Mullahs/ Shiite clerics hate father-son succession; it’s one of their supposed qualms with the monarchy.
The “reformers” wanted Hassan Khomeini. The parliament and many of the mullahs wanted Alireza Arafi but Mojtaba has close ties with Sepah/Basjii.
