Already posted about this on 4chan but the post got archived before I could share more about it so I'm posting it here too.
So a couple months ago I got into this thing called the "Conet project" and It's basically just recordings of number stations from ww2 and the cold war and such, encrypted messages and weird sounds.
Anyway when I was listening to them a while ago I was curious to see what other types of people listen to it, and I check the other playlists it's on and its all just tiktok live playlists and weird indonesian pop.
I'll attach an image below so you know what I'm talking about. Curious I look further into it, and (at the time) they all were littered with this one song by this singular artist "Vanessa Zee" and the song being "Ennga Negerti" I click on her profile and she has 1 song with millions of views. And her profile picture is her with just a white background, I scroll down and look at similar artists. And they are all the same, one song, hundered thousands/millions of views, white background.
I start looking these people up, and at the time NOTHING came up. I never screenshotted this part but, I tell some friends about it and same thing came up for them. Couple months go by and I look her up again, and mysteriously she comes up. She looks like a proper celebrity now but, I cant seem to find out why she is so famous. Her main thing seems to be singing but, she only has 2 songs that aren't even all that good.
Someone replied to the post and just said it was a money laundering scheme, which is totally possible, but something about the radio signals rubs me the wrong way. I would like other peoples opinion on this. thank you.
Edit: Forgot to mention this originally, but the playlists that all contain this "Eggna Ngerti" and these sleep streams all have some of the most random music that does not correlate to the name at all. Sometimes it'll have "Beware of the friendly stranger" right next to "J dilla" (actual thing I saw) and the title of the playlist is "Sleep Stream"

From what i recall, spotify is a big money pot. Most of the money goes to the biggest artists. Numbers station is weird as fuck, but im assuming theyre throwing the song on anything to get the slice of the pie. Theres literal phone farms dedicated to playing these songs. Justin bieber told his fans to make playlists and repeat the new song at the time over and over.
It boosts popularity and boosts money. May be why she landed that spot to be a contestant? Shes got motion and the inflated numbers. Since that first step is all done, the agents can market her or build her up much easier than paying for exposure.
Thats how they do it. Not really sure where the number stations come into play.
Edit: pure speculation. Maybe the numbers stations are an easy thing to go to because it wont be caught by anti farm software? They control their exposure themselves, so no need for others to find it. They aint expecting people like you and i lmao

It’s so that Spotify can keep a bigger portion of streaming revenue by padding stats
Marketing guy here – I would guess they purchased plays for credibility, the reason there’s multiple people that have the same weird behavior is because they all bought their views from the same place. If they were part of a contest, like someone mentioned, it’s likely the company did some pre-promotion work to reduce stress on boosting up the numbers. It’s a lot easier to start it early for the contestants than to have to try and boost numbers (to make viewership look bigger) in a very short unreliable timeframe.
Part of the reason dead internet theory is partially true is because this has been going on for a long time and people are actively always getting better at it so we are seeing it grow in front of our eyes as a bigger portion of activity. Both companies and people use metrics for credibility therefore there’s a market for it and therefore empty views/comments/activity are a product.
TLDR: they were likely purchased plays all from the same seller or song contest company inflated them to make viewership and audience participation look bigger.
I bet all their profile pics were taken in the same studio.
Also remember, there are hundreds of millions to billions of people that speak another language and probably listen to different music than you. The top 10 in LA probably won’t be the same as the top 10 in Beijing, Mumbai, or Manila.
