Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) on Tuesday lambasted European allies over their reluctance to send military assets to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, threatening “wide and deep” repercussions for alliances.
In a post to social media, Graham said he had spoken with President Trump
“about our European allies’ unwillingness to provide assets to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning,” a conversation in which he claimed he had “never heard [Trump] so angry in my life.”
Graham went further in his criticism, excoriating European countries’ approach to containing Iran’s nuclear ambitions, calling them “a miserable failure,” and questioning the future of alliances.
“The repercussions of providing little assistance to keep the Strait of Hormuz functioning are going to be wide and deep for Europe and America,” he wrote on X. “I consider myself very forward-leaning on supporting alliances, however at a time of real testing like this, it makes me second guess the value of these alliances. I am certain I am not the only senator who feels this way.”

Have we tried invading them if they don’t help??? Maybe that would work!

After Donald Trump helped Europe so much like repeatedly blackmailing Ukraine and trying to sell them out to Russia every couple of months, telling everyone on a weekly basis that he doesn’t see the value in NATO, repeatedly threatening to invade Greenland, and just generally being a massive arsehole repeatedly for no good reason, and after all that, they still won’t come to his aid?

Lindsey graham is a spineless, sad excuse for a man. Trump dug this hole himself, you jumped in after him, and Europe has no responsibility to help you back out. Grow up and learn to accept the consequences of your actions, or better yet retire from any position of power and fade into obscurity where you belong.

I would consider joining the operation if the US transfers a couple hundred nukes to Ukraine, then we have a deal.

Perhaps Trump’s most consistent stance on anything throughout both administrations is how he deeply despises alliances with Europe/NATO. Western leaders still dealt with him on a transactional level or simply tried to placate him. However, Trump playing the alliance card is a very week leverage. No leader with half a brain should believe that there’s anything Trump can do but hasn’t done to damage alliances with Europe or that he would miraculously be prevented from doing it because of Iran.

If America itself is really in a moment of difficulty, I’d be more sympathetic to the argument that the good that it did over the decades in NATO should persuade the Europeans to look past Trump.
But no, you cooked up a war and you have enough navy ships. So let’s be clear about what this is: he knew using naval force to clear up the strait would be much riskier than bombing a place with garbage air defense. If god forbid the Iranians sink a navy ship, he’s done politically. So even though he isn’t on the front, he’s still too much of a coward to take responsibility and wants Brit blokes coming back in coffins instead of yanks. Not that he cares about them either but voters do.
Why would anyone help Trump avoid the responsibility of the bullshit he created?

Why do we need help with a war we already won?
