  1. If Paradox games taught me anything, so many allies rejecting your call to aid means something’s going terribly wrong with your country

  2. 1. Summary

The so-called “Hormuz Coalition” initiative, which U.S. President Donald Trump pushed to pressure allies to participate in military operations in the Strait of Hormuz, effectively collapsed after just three days. On the 14th, he used social media to specifically demand the dispatch of warships from the UK, France, China, Japan, South Korea, and others, issuing a threatening statement that “I will remember who helps,” but allies unanimously drew the line. Eventually, on the 17th, Trump stated, “I am very disappointed with NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organization),” acknowledging the allies’ rejection as a fait accompli. Some analysts suggest the situation reflects the consequences of the Trump administration’s unilateral “America First” approach.

    3. My opinion

I wonder how did Trump end up with a conclusion that China will help him get out of self-inflicted Persian quagmire? Did he really believe in “strongmen solidarity”?

  3. Trump is like, “Please help me with this strait”

Allies are like, “Hormuz on deez nutz”

If a European country joins this disaster and even just one of their soldiers dies, they’d get absolutely shredded by their people. So it’s not that surprising.

Who would have thought that allies would reject US calls 10 years ago? Trump has really done lot of damage.

    > Trump’s Hormuz Coalition Collapses

No, it doesn’t. Because it posits that there ever was such a coalition in the first place.

The article itself had it correct, though. It should be: “Trump’s So-Called ‘Hormuz Coalition’ Initiative Fails Miserably.”

  7. They know Trump’s threats have an expiration date and his promises mean nothing. Getting involved would be almost entirely downside.
