I thought that was obvious, they rake in billions to keep the war economy going, all the while people talk about their war less and less. Trump practically legitimises their behaviour

  2. 1. Summary

The US-Israeli war with Iran has given Russia the upper hand in Ukraine and loosened the strictures on its energy exports.

    3. My opinion

This war has been the greatest gift to America’s adversaries. It not only destroyed any moral authority of the US left while sending oil price skyrocketing, helping Russia and other oil-rich US adversaries benefit greatly. China is not affected by this oil chaos as ships heading to China are not touched by Iranian drones, while causing havoc US allies.

This is another genius geopolitical move by Trump if he is an anti-American extremist hellbent on the destruction of the US hegemony.

  3. Russia is getting a financial windfall from the sanctions relief and high oil prices, but modern wars are not about getting more money. They aren’t exactly celebrating the fact that their only remaining ally in the region is now being destabilized by forces they can’t challenge due to their own position in Ukraine. Right now, authoritarian dictators who have chosen to rely on Russia have a disproportionately and disconcertingly high chance of ending up either in a Moscow hotel or on the hot end of a GBU, and that is not great for their geopolitical projects.

Also, this is usually mentioned as a side point, but for all the fears of our adversaries learning about the way we fight, no one is learning more lessons on using our systems and tactics right now than… us. If we’ve underestimated our forces’ vulnerability to cheap, commercial drones (it’s not clear that’s the case, just an example), then this is an excellent time to work those kinks out before we face them for real, say in the Pacific against a country that produces most of those drones, in a much higher stakes war.

Finally, look at Ukraine. Other than a few cherrypicked quotes about Patriot stocks, do these analysts really think Ukraine is that much against the war? Zelenskyy’s position is a lot more hawkish on Iran than most of his European counterparts.
