Man, we are just sleepwalking into another unwinnable war of attrition. Everyone in the world thinks that this is a terrible idea.
Imagine the Soviet-Afghan War on steroids, we don’t even have a PDPA type government to prop up on the ground. We are just banking on being welcomed as liberators after glassing the place….China/Russia would also arm the IRGC to make the occupation a blood bath. Aliyev has already hinted about possible expanding his “buffer” zone to reduce the efflux of refugees if the state collapses.
