The author cites a recent personal anecdote about an Irish friend bursting out in contempt for the United States during a casual confrontation, followed by another petty Truth Social post about making Venezuela the 51st state, followed by his musings on American allies shunning all its calls for help in the war against Iran, America being downgraded in the Democracy Index and Trump’s open imperialism towards Greenland, Iran and Cuba, to make a case for why America under the Trump administration has become hated as a nation.

Without reading – there’s not one man. There is a collective guilt of the American nation

  3. Nah I blame all of the dumb fucks who voted for him or didn’t vote at all too.

Idiocy, selfishness, and unwarranted fear are not reasons to elect a mongrel like Trump

Watching my country do and say so many things that are completely at odds with my morals, things I never thought we’d do, is disheartening in a way I cannot even describe

I used to be an ardent defender that while imperfect, we were the best country to “lead” the free world. Now I hardly care about patriotism at all and just hope the next government can be sane and reverse a portion of the damage. I don’t think I’ll ever be as patriotic as I was before the 2024 election

Yeah no, America was widely hated long before Trump, or even Bush. Being the global hegemon, and before that being one of 2 competing superpowers definitely helped.
