submission statement – for people who believe in the importance of AI, the relative lack of domestic compute capacity on european shores presents a real geopolitical risk. In the light of the pentagon's extraordinary pressure on Anthropic, Simon breaks down a potential path to appealing to the liberal values many of the top AI firm's staff share with Europe as a way to attract investment in compute on european shores. Liberal vibes as soft power. I'm convinced of the problem but not the solution here.

Would be a pretty extraordinary reversal. I don’t see Amodei taking packing his bags and going to Europe as his first resort though.
I reckon he’s probably going to approach this administration like a lot of American libs currently are; see if you can ride out the administration and only pull the rip-cord to get out if or when it becomes clear that the takeover is permanent.
Like, I have a UK passport and could leave at any time- but it would completely upend my life and I’m just a guy, not a megacorp with employees and infrastructure and all that.
Reckon it’s an order of magnitude harder
