The list of stupid shit this admin has done is endless, but this bloated, ridiculous…*thing* still manages to stand out.
Maybe this is some subconscious American Civic Religion crap on my part, but the first words that come to mind when I think about what Trump has done to the White House and its grounds are desecration and sacrilege. Undoing everything he’s done and restoring the White House needs to be on the checklist of any future Democratic President.
The Sassanid emperor, Khosrow I, destroyed the city of Antioch while at war with the Byzantine Empire. He deported all of its residents to a new city of his own. This city was called “Weh Antiok Khosrow,” loosely translated as “Khosrow’s Better Antioch.” This city was an exact copy of the original, with Roman baths and chariot arenas.
I propose that we do something similar with the area where the East Wing of the White House formerly stood. If any ballroom or structure is successfully built on that space before Trump is out of office, we should knock it down (hire DC residents or just anybody who hates Trump to take a sledgehammer and have fun, maybe donate the proceeds to charity). Then, we should rebuild the East Wing exactly as it was, and name it “Insert Democratic President’s Better East Wing,” just to stick it to Trump
