Africa is hurting again from a global crisis it had no part in starting

  1. The current US-Iran war has led to a myriad of consequences, including in Africa. Beyond greatly squeezing oil supply in regions already rendered highly unstable due to rolling crises since the start of the decade, it also places greater pressure on everything that oil contributes to, including in the production of fertiliser. This is only a small snapshot of the direct effects it has atm, but even that is significant enough for governments to act; Ethiopia, for instance, [has turned back to encouraging remote work as a means of mitigating the ongoing fuel shortage.](https://www.thereporterethiopia.com/49965/) This should be seen as awful; a region that has consistently been wracked by poverty and that has consistently been the victim of global developments is the first to properly face this development head on once more. Considering how central American action has been in causing this crisis and with their withdrawal from providing support via foreign aid or refugee programmes, I can’t see many Africans coming out of it with a love for the United States, either.
