Iran doesn't have a new president; they have a new Supreme Leader. Their new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the former, Ali Khamenei, is widely considered to be more of a hardliner than his old man.
The devil is in the details, they say. By demonstrating a fundamental lack of understanding about their government structure, Trump just exposed what most of us knew all along – he isn't negotiating with anyone from within the actual, current, Iranian regime.

None of the goals of this war have been achieved. The only goal he has left is to get back to the previous baseline, while we get the fortune of paying for this mess.
God dammit he’s so fucking stupid and embarrassing. It is mind blowing to brag about bombing civilian targets.
How is no one around him reining this in? How are his sons not BEGGING HIM to just STFU because they are going to have to live this down with their family name. In a year he has destroyed 120 years of goodwill and credibility for the entire country that won’t be rebuilt for generations. Fuck him so much.
Is he just saying this so the stock market goes up like the other day forgot what he said but it went up after.
