Most people have heard the term Operation

Mockingbird thrown around. But very few know

the full documented story.

In 1975 the Church Committee — a US Senate

investigation — confirmed that the CIA had

planted agents inside the New York Times,

Washington Post, CBS, NBC and Time Magazine.

CIA Director William Colby testified under

oath that journalists were used as assets.

The program was supposedly terminated.

But in 2013 the US government quietly repealed

the law banning domestic propaganda that had

been in place since 1948.

It is now completely legal for the government

to run propaganda targeting its own citizens.
