Israel passes death penalty law—but only for Palestinians

Israel has decided that it can now openly murder Palestinians who it convicts in its own corrupt courts, holds hostage in its prisons, and who it now wants to hang with little opportunity for appeal or for basic oversight.

Israel’s Knesset passed a death penalty law that codifies in writing that Palestinians accused of killing Israelis will be tried in biased Israeli military courts, and if convicted, will be executed by hanging within a mere 90 days.

Israel’s National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, and other top Israeli officials, celebrated this latest gory evolution of Israeli apartheid that they have long fought towards by cheering, wearing golden nooses on their lapels, and even popping champagne.

This cruelty, this callousness, this sickening disregard for Palestinians’ basic humanity is not surprising from the highest echelons of Israel’s leadership.

It is, instead, the very nauseating basis on which Israel’s violent apartheid state has always been predicated.

And our lawmakers, seventy percent of whom are still on AIPAC’s payroll, remain silent as they funnel mountains of American money and weapons to help enforce Israel’s genocidal regime.

There is no grey area here: This horrifying display is just another reminder that all American money, aid, and weapons to Israel must STOP NOW.

While Ben Gvir pops his genocidal champagne, we’re fighting to unseat the spineless American politicians whose silence, apathy, and bought allegiance to AIPAC and the rest of the pro-Israel lobby continue to allow war criminals like him to stay in power.
