Reminder: every country engages in propaganda, including the U.S. They want you to believe the rescue was a success, because the risk of being exposed is lower than admitting the pilot was likely already dead.
SS: lying is cheaper than the truth. And the war *must* go on.
They wouldn’t “stop the war” over a couple of lost pilots anyways. But it’s hard to lie about stuff like this.
People in the communities know these people, and know people that know them. Just how Jack Murphy knew the second he was rescued. Special Operations community is very tight knit.

How do i know this image of a failed rescue attempt is real for what happened in iran and not sone other location? Propaganda can work both ways mate.

I see four engines in a row, appears this bird was set alight on the ground rather than exploded in the air.

They’ve been planning a ground invasion. They chose this old air strip in Iran, They set up the story of a downed “pilot” later said to be a weaons officer. In any case, this was the pretext for the mission.
Clearly they were not successful in their first try at an invasion and were forced to flee. This does not look like sand that the planes couldn’t take off in particularly if later ones were able to use it. So that was the backstory for why the US claims THEY blew up their own planes which appears unlikely. It appears they were attacked once they landed and disembarked landing forces on the ground and were attacked. Were 3 other sent in and flew everyone to safety with nary a scratch. That too seems like an unlikely version of events. Probably this is what remains of their invasion. And the reason for Trumps unhinged soapbox screeching on social media in the aftermath.

Just saying, if this happened in Afghanistan or Iraq you would see dozens of people picking over the remains.
But of course back then you’d never see the picture.
