New data showed that Italy’s population stabilized after 12 years of decline, mainly due to increased immigration. The figures may seem surprising given right-wing Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni’s hard line against migration, but, notes Reuters her government has also eased work visa requirements for non-EU citizens, in some ways mirroring the practices of the left-wing government in nearby Spain.

    I dislike Meloni.

This being said, r/Europe is ridicolously superficial. They just dump her with the anti-globalist, pro-Russia populist far right(her allies Salvini and Vannaci belong there).

She’s just a social conservative who, despite her rhetoric, has accepted many immigrants.

Who won’t rock the boat and make the necessary changes that Italy needs, and who has been bought by lobbies and whose government is corrupt, sure, but despite her past statements and sympathies, she hasn’t done anything fascist yet.

And i don’t expect her succ NIMBY and weak opposition to tackle these problems much better.

I think she’s pretty similar to Angela Merkel, all things considered.

Not to talk about the recent justice referendum. The coverage on Reddit has been disgusting.
