A 19-year-old Florida teen, Jones, is accused of murdering and dismembering 28-year-old Colie Lee Daniel, allegedly targeting him because he was a registered sex offender. According to police, Jones used a baseball bat to kill Daniel and then cut up his body using multiple tools before disposing of the remains in bags in a remote field. Investigators say Jones had printed a list of nearby sex offenders prior to the crime. He was first arrested on March 28 on charges related to handling and disposing of the body, released on bond, and then basically “Punk’d” by officials who re-arrested him on April 1 and charged him with first-degree murder. He is currently being held without bond. The case has drawn comparisons to the TV show Dexter, as investigators allege Jones attempted to keep the victim’s blood on a slide… similar to the fictional serial killer’s ritual in the series.
