Yang Kyung-soo, chairman of the Korean Confederation of Trade Unions (KCTU), urged President Lee Jae-myung to discuss measures for the government to reclaim excess profits earned by companies through artificial intelligence. He argued wealth redistribution is necessary to share the massive gains AI-utilizing companies will reap with workers.
“The introduction of physical AI represents not a change in jobs but their extinction, which is what makes this different from previous countermeasures,” Yang said at a meeting hosted by President Lee at Cheong Wa Dae on the 10th. “Comprehensive discussions and measures are needed covering social safety nets, labor rights, and the reclamation of excess corporate profits generated by AI.”
