Our media are smearing the fuel protestors as 'a cost to the State' as if the Irish people are supposed to be there for the State, rather than the other way around. I've seen the following arguments put forth in the media and Twitter over the last few days:
"But what about the fall in State revenue from fuel taxation?"
Don't care. Maybe the fall in revenue will make the government stop pissing our money up against the wall with economic migrant welfare and foreign aid spending.
"You're disrupting people's ability to get fuel and services!"
That's the point of a serious, to make a point and disrupt everyone's daily lives to make a point in the national interest. It takes me an extra 10 minutes to get to and from work, and that's fine by me.
"Why didn't farmers and truckers protest before the Iran war?"
Because the cost of fuel was low enough that they could afford to ignore how much the State is pillaging them.
