Ever since news broke that Widdecombe was murdered, I've had a suspicion that Farage was involved. Widdecombe wasn't a party member at the time, and obviously murder is bad, but it wasn't like she was a particularly important person to kill for a political point.
But, this happened at the time that Farage started to be under heavy scrutiny about the £5 million donation to him from George Cottrell, and all of the other political donations he's received. His argument has always been that he needed that money for protection, which is why I immediately thought the murder might have been orchestrated by him or someone close to him, to back up his argument that he needed that money for protection. He's had a couple of milkshakes thrown at him, but nothing close to this. Now he's fighting a by-election to try and "prove his innocence" or whatever, and it's coming out that there were plans to firebomb his home? It all just feels quite convenient for the narrative he's pushing.
