Submission Statement: Building on top of $26 billion in production led incentives (PLI) allocated over the past 5 years along with Apple now manufacturing roughly 25% of all iPhones in India, the Indian Government has announced the Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme aimed at moving the country's electronics industry beyond large-scale assembly and toward higher domestic value addition, indigenous product design, and developing native mobile brands. The new scheme concentrates on supporting design initiatives as well as the localization of sub-components such as PCBs, camera modules, displays, batteries, and mechanical components.
