Kathmandú Valley to get four smart cities in five years

The Kathmandu Valley Development Authority (KVDA) plans to develop four smart cities in the valley’s corners to reduce downtown population density, with a target to complete construction within five years of finalizing Detailed Project Reports (DPRs).

The designated cities are:

Kathmandu-Ishaan (North-East): The largest city, covering 100,000 ropanis from Nagarkot to Araniko Highway, led by Finnish firm Helen and Co.

Kathmandu-Agneya (South-East): A 10,000 ropani area in Lalitpur covering Gundu and Balkot.

Kathmandu-Nairitya (South-West): A 10,000 ropani area in Lalitpur covering Ranikot and Khokana.

Kathmandu-Uttar (North): A 10,000 ropani area in Kathmandu covering Samakhushi and Tokha.
