J.D. Vance's next idea for his moral crusade: paying parents to stay at home.

Might not be a terrible idea, you might think, as it could make it easier to have children or more children.

But where is the money going to come from? An existing fund for working parents:

About 80 percent of the 870,000 families who currently get the child care subsidies have single working parents, most of them mothers, according to Health Department data.

So J.D. Vance & co. will take money that mostly goes to help single working mothers and redistribute it to married couples.

This is probably of interest to the sub because it hits economic, social, and family policy.

IMO this is conservative Christian nationalists seeing the world as they want it to be, not at it is, and it will harm women.

And the kicker:

Unmarried couples in which one parent stays at home would not qualify under the draft.
