Palantir CEO and co-founder Alex Karp made an appearance at the resting place of the Chabad-Lubavitch movement’s longtime leader, Rabbi Menachem Mendel Schneerson, in Queens, N.Y., on Tuesday, where he posed for a selfie with Rabbi Mendy Uminer.
Uminer, who leads Chabad of Chestnut Hill, Mass., shared the photo on X, writing, “Only at the Rebbe’s ohel — resting place do you bump into the legendary Alex Karp.”
Karp is one of the most outspoken corporate defenders of Israel and a vocal critic of rising antisemitism. He has described himself as “the most publicly supportive CEO of Israel.” In January 2024, Palantir announced a strategic agreement to support Tel Aviv’s “war-related missions” with its AI technology.
Karp was honored last year at the American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad)’s annual Lamplighter Awards, where he called on the Jewish community to step outside its “comfort zone” and look for new strategies to defend itself amid rising antisemitism.
The Ohel, located at Montefiore Cemetery, draws thousands of visitors each year, including prominent political, business and cultural figures seeking to pray at the grave of the late Lubavitcher rebbe.
