So, someone linked me a video of then-VP Joe Biden swearing in then-Senator Kamala Harris back in January 2017. Wanting to see what other videos of Kamala Harris swearings in there were, since I know she had a lot, I stumbled across this.
It's then-Senator Dianne Feinstein in January 2008, swearing in Kamala Harris as San Francisco DA. And her mother, Shyamala Gopalan, is there, holding the book Harris is being sworn in on. And it's such a beautiful video, given the context of our present moment. That two of the three women are no longer with us, and the third is now the Democratic Party nominee for president (and an incredibly historic one at that).
I just wanted to share this video of where it all began, and maybe spread some joy, tears, and hope.
