If Tesla is subsidized by taxpayers, why not nationalize it

Its clear the EV grants which Tesla received were actually the driving force behind the company's success, as no one wants to buy them anymore. Its also the reason behind him breaking up with Donald Trump (SAD!).P

Well if Elon Musk and other capitalists rely on their daddy the government's money to succeed, why do we even allow them to be private in the first place?
