“If we speak about EU membership, it has to be fully fledged,” Zelenskyy said during a Euronews enlargement summit, the Kyiv Independent newspaper reported.
“You cannot be a semi- or demi-member of the European Union,” he added.
Zelenskyy’s comments came after the EU released its annual review of candidate countries’ progress on Tuesday, which commend Kyiv for its “remarkable commitment” to EU membership.
While the report praised Ukraine’s overall progress, it also stressed the need for further action on tackling corruption and organized crime, if the country is to meet its goal of completing accession talks by 2028, as set by Kyiv.
