Edit: This was a legit question as I didn’t know the ratio. This stat to a known sex pest is crazy

lol ngl i’m in an ir class rn and my professor is obsessed with mamdani.. like we get it, you think the “savior” narrative is problematic 🙄.

Both are impressive. Mamdani didn’t have the endorsement of the party.

Democratic voters ranked that *sex pest* ahead of like 600 generic Dem candidates with moderate views including Brad Lander
Mamdani is mainly being lauded for successfully creating a grass roots movement and riding it to victory. None of you guys even knew this guys name a year ago. If I put you in his shoes with your sensible neoliberal platform Cuomo would be standing behind you rubbing your shoulders at his victory celebration
The bottom line is that this guy actually got his constituents excited to vote for him. We need more of that and less “alright I guess I’ll vote for her” which is what we got in the Presidential

Damn just let the new yorkers be happy the mayor isn’t a criminal or other flavor of goon for once bro.

So is it the sex-pest that was endorsed by Trump and the republicans or the actual republican that we were supposed to be voting for? lmao what a ridiculous post.

OP: “8.8% vote lead is basically the same as 1% they’re all technically single digit numbers anyway.¥

Credit where credit’s due, I don’t have to like all of his policies but for a first-timer running against a well-known, second-generation statewide pol he established a great reputation locally and ran a great campaign.
Could a non-Cuomo have beaten him if running as an independent? I’m not confident in that claim.

I mean NYC without the metropolitan area is 8M people. That’s basically a medium sized state (and the most important city in the world, when you say the city people literally think of new york, everywhere). And he’s an ascending DSA personality. People are obviously gonna make a big deal about it. Not that I like his policies that much, but it’s understandable that he’s getting A LOT of coverage.

People are too fixated about the margin of victory when discussing Mamdani’s win. The only reason his margin of victory was less than 10 was because Sliwa supporters voted strategically and decided to vote for Cuomo. Mainly because Trump told them to do it and they listen to him.
Mamdani did break 50% of the total vote which none of the major polls outside of Emerson had him doing leading into the election. So in a way he did actually over perform his polling numbers.

Cmon Mamdani supporters, you have to admit this is true. There’s no world where a sexual harassing independent should even come close to someone running as a Democrat in New York.
I’m glad Mamdani won, but his win just isn’t that impressive.

Truth is we gotta stop dunking on progressives for dumb shit like this that doesn’t matter, we need to be unified as a party these days. This type of pissing contest about who won the biggest in the last election does nothing to help

Nah, a 33 year old who was not known 5 years ago by anybody, beating a veteran politician with insane amount of money and credential back up is impressive as fuck.

Two things can be true:
– Zohran winning 50.4% of the vote in a blue city does not mean the dems should run DSA candidates all over the country.
– Zohran built a genuinely impressive political movement and inspired huge numbers of new voters, and he deserves praise for that.
People are so fed up with the status quo that it’s no shock they wanted something new. I am interested to see how he governs.
