Caveat this by saying that this was an off year election, but GEM has some analysis comparing this off year to previous off years which makes the shift even more stark. Virginia’s state level elections and the margin of victory in New Jersey are also other data points noting the massive shift back towards traditional Democrat strongholds.
It frustrates me peoples foolish naive aversion to simply voting blue no matter who. They imagine themselves enlightened when they’re really the sheep who wanders into the teeth of wolves. Sickening.

Swings like this are going to be the new normal. Trump is an extreme example because he’s an extreme politician, but the “realignment” is about negativity towards whoever is in charge at the moment rather than purely left or right IMO.
The left gets a participation bonus because they’re the side of the educated/more politically active, but I fully expect 2029, or even 2027 depending on how the midterms go in 2026, to have similarly big pivots.
