Trump without an advantage on the economy is worthless. Literally completely worthless. That it has taken the GOP this long to realize it is fucking insane.
He spent the entire 2024 election rambling about Hannibal Lecter and Haitian migrants eating cats and dogs. Whenever his advisors forced him to talk about the economy, he would listlessly read off some chart for 30 seconds before going right back to his rants. He only ran for president to stay out of prison. He only won an inflation election by 1.5 points off the backs of low-info voters that literally refused to believe his actual policies were real, and just assumed he would lower prices on day 1 with literal magic.
So no, 2024 was not some permanent Trumpian realignment, and no, Trump didn’t win in 2024 because he’s an unbeatable supergenius. It was a narrow verdict from low-info voters that said “I want lower prices.” Then Trump failed to deliver because he never wanted to lower prices, he just wanted to persecute his political enemies and stay out of prison.
The GOP could have nominated Nikki Haley and won by 20 points but instead they hitched themselves and the country to a fat, senile, washed up pedophile. They are going to be completely in the wilderness from now until November 2028 at the earliest. And it’s all their fault.
