This guy wasn't some standard Compassion Admission, he was a wartime ally.
Rahmanullah Lakanwal arrived in the U.S. in September 2021 after serving in the Afghan Army for 10 years, alongside U.S. Special Forces troops. He was stationed at a base in Kandahar for part of that time, the relative said.
He came to the U.S. after the Taliban took over and eventually settled in Washington state, the relative said.
He spends 10 years fighting the Taliban alongside US soldiers, comes back with us after we withdraw from Afghanistan, spends a few years chilling, then travels 3,000 miles to DC just to shoot 2 random guys?
The national guard was extensively deployed in Afghanistan – including Kandahar. What if he saw some National Guard guy on TV, recognized him from when they were in Afghanstan, and was like "oh I remember you, and now that I know where you are, I'm coming for you!"

I’m just spitballing here, but this feels like it could be the government wanting to drum up support for their xenophobic policies. Find a patsy, tell him horrible things will happen to his family if he doesn’t play the part. Force him to do something awful, and then use that as the pretext for ramping up your budget or getting congress to vote your way.
Mk ultra ran from 1953 to 1973. I seriously don’t that was the last program, and methods tend to get more successful with practice.
