I don’t know if we’re doing the submission statements yet, but I thought this article explains pretty well why Chinese EVs are so cheap. A lot of it is due to subsidies. If we did allow Chinese cars to sell here, we’d almost certainly have to subsidize our own EVs to counter this. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be remotely fair. I thought it would be interesting to discuss.

I rode in several BYDs recently and the fit and finish murders Tesla. Actual door handles too.

North America aside, are those super low prices available anywhere outside of China? BYD cars I’ve seen sold internationally are competitively priced but are in the same neighborhood as their competition.
