Trump Campaigned on Affordability. Now He’s Calling the Idea a ‘Con Job.’ His messaging on the cost of living contradicts itself.

Everything that man says contradicts itself. He campaigned on tariffs both 1) restoring American manufacturing by virtually stopping most imports and b) generating so much money (paid by foreigners!) that the deficit would be gone in a year. Logically, both things simply can’t be true, yet his supporters still bought it.

Ignoring, gaslighting and deflecting about inflationary pressures worked so well for the current administration, sounds like a well thought out strategy/s (sarcasm)

    It’s the economy stupid!

it’s also true that voters will not be forgiving to somebody who doesn’t at least appear to be fixing their problems. And Trump’s “tariffs and deportations will take care of it” line does not seem to be winning people over.

  2. We got ‘im this time folks, finally a contradiction they won’t be able to ignore!

(All jokes aside a steady drumbeat of valid criticism is good)

  3. It’s good to document this stuff, so I’m glad the article exists, but it also makes me feel mildly insane when I read articles titled like this.

It sure *feels* like sane washing, because the default position for absolutely everyone should be to treat any claim or policy proposal coming from Trumpworld as essential incoherent.

We’ve had a decade of this shit. For every truth that comes out of the mouths of anyone associated with Trump, there are easily 99 lies, and as we all know Trump’s current position about literally any issue is entirely based on whom he last talked with about it
