The Drone and AI Delusion – What Defense VC Firms Get Wrong about Military Evolutions and War

Posting this article after people have seen the NYT article about the atrophy of the US military. [The first half of my comment in that thread was inspired by this article,](https://www.reddit.com/r/neoliberal/comments/1phjln8/comment/nsz4uq6/?context=3) with the second half being original.

But yeah, solely relying on supposedly new* technologies won’t resolve the decay at the heart of the US military, and shows why companies like Anduril won’t be the transformative companies that they say they are given that much of their technology is replicable by older defense giants.

Instead, there needs to be a comprehensive transformation of how the US military carries itself, from reforming institutions to culture to doctrine, which will allow for effective deployment of future technologies.

*Anduril’s products aren’t incredibly innovative outside of software, and maybe the Ghostshark. As the article gives examples of, some of their hardware products are rehashes of products that already exist, except with flashier aesthetics.
