Why are there so many more awards given on crappy comments/posts? Is this bots awarding bots? Are we at the beginning of the Dead Internet Theory?

I feel like every post has so many more awards on it, and weird ass AI looking or just genuinely boring and unoriginal comments also have more awards. Is it Reddit trying to make "awards" happen again or is this just bots?
