Despite all its flaws, I feel the EU is still one of the best representations of this sub politics. Elitist, technocratic, and with a weird fixation on specific solutions to problems the median voter doesn’t care about.
So while the national governments care about actual problems like where to get another 100 billion to put into the railway workers’ pension fund, the EU is working tirelessly to institute mass surveillance to make sure no teenager will ever find a single image of a naked woman on the internet anymore.

The issue is that the EU receive the *has been* / *corrupt / technocrats / ideologically woo woo* politicians that national countries don’t want to elect. Hard to take good decisions when the people making them are out of touch (from being either too intelligent or too stupid) or super corrupt
