Hollywood has always been riddled with child predators, especially people at MGM and including Joan Crawford.

Jackie Cooper, one of the first ever and most successful child actors working during the 1930s and 40s was subject to sexual abuse by the executives and other actors and actresses at MGM, including Joan Crawford. The linked video is very interesting as a whole but if you skip to 21:10 you’ll hear about some extremely concerning behaivour towards Jackie Cooper by Joan. Joan insisted on meeting Jackie after his starring role in Skippy (1931) when he was 8 years old, Joan would invite him over to her house without his parents being present, just her and him. When Jackie was a teenager and Joan was in her mid 30s, she slept with him, Jackie said that she would always bathe him, powder him and cologne him before and after. Once Jackie turned 18 Joan lost interest and stopped seeing him. Joan wasn’t the only person that would act inappropriately with Jackie and Jackie was one of many child actors from that era that experienced abuse in various forms.
