I live in Australia on the west coast. The US is building up a nuclear sub hub nearby.

Well the best places would be in third world countries primarily locations that still have local supply chains, agriculture etc.
Anywhere else prolly be fucked.
When Oklahoma city was hit, I came to the conclusion that nowhere is safe. The place has to be significant enough to matter and accomplish the goal.

All of it. China and Russia will start WW3 for worldwide dominance. With all their faults, the US is the only thing preventing Chinese or Russian takeover.
I live in El Paso Texas home to one of the biggest military installations it’s bigger than the state of Rhode Island. Which could be a good thing or a bad thing. It could us a big target or the military presence could keep us safe. What do you all think?

The reality is there are several countries at least that rely on the US and/or NATO as their military. The US goes away, that protection also does

that’s the question, isn’t it? I’m not sure how one can prepare.
I plan on hunkering down on my 80 acres in the middle of nowhere soon. It’s where I’ll retire next year. Finished the solar panels and whole home generator project before winter set in.

On average, 56% of sovereign wealth, that’s about 1/2 the money any country has, is tied in some way shape or form. So when the us collapses, some countries lose 20%-80% of every “dollar” they have (obviously they call it by their own currency’s name).
The worst part? The part no one talks about, in the event of a power grid failure, nuclear power plants automatically scram using backup generators to prevent a Chernobyl-like event. But there is ZERO consideration for the spent fuel rod “cooling tanks” – basically big pools of water where they sit for an extended period of time, (usually at least 5-10 years).
Now, over time, that water heats up and boils off because those emergency generators are NOT tied to any water pumps for the spent fuel rod tank, this summer the NRC rejected a plan that would have required solar or wind to do just that, (keep the pumps going).
So, after about 10 – 14 days without being tied to the grid every nuclear power plant in the us, (and likely globally unless that country has more stringent controls), starts kicking out radiation. Most of it is “short” isotopes, so you’d need to shelter for up to 30 days, that’s the ‘high end’ but that’s what takes out most people, that’s why all studies about “no electricity” in the USA say about 90% fatal on average.
Best place to live? The northeast (sans SE corner of NH), Puerto Rico, and the Olympic peninsula, oh, Alaska too. That’s it.
Any big city. If the trucks stop rolling the food stops. Then you dont need to summon demons in a place like NY to show humans dark side.
Any major city or right outside of them.
