It’s always oil

  1. Oh, Trump absolutely wants the oil. But “always” is wrong, because, ironically, No-Nothing Trump is right about America not getting oil out of the Iraq War. Most of the freely negotiated oil contracts went to China and Russia.

  2. Seriously speaking, this is a disaster. Trump is such an idiot that he doesn’t even realize that you can’t “pump oil.” In the 21st century, a war over resources is technically unprofitable. I’m convinced he genuinely believes he’ll make billions on Venezuelan oil, even though it’s technically unsaleable like Texas oil. It’s simply not the same composition and quality. The overthrow of Maduro is a great joy. But there’s no greater tragedy than the fact that this regime was overthrown by a man praised by Dugin, who is mentally stuck not even in the 20th century, but in the 19th, and who doesn’t care about democracy, human rights, or anything Venezuelans have fought for all these years.

  3. The oil narrative is a myth. It’s about geopolitics. Generally the problem is authoritarians will get in power and use the oil to buy weapons to stay in power and oppress their citizens (which is exactly what happened with Maduro).
