Mette Fredriksen has warned that an American invasion would lead to the dissolution of “Nato and therefore post-second world war security”. Jens-Frederik Nielsen, the Prime Minister of Greenland, has also issued fresh condemnations of the attack. There has already been an article today on the Danish response to American threats against Greenlandic sovereignty, but this one is framed from a Danish, rather than an American perspective, and the direct warning that further statements would totally eradicate the US-Denmark alliance is new. The gravity of NATO dissolving would be seismic across the board, but frankly, if the United States becomes an enemy in this manner, then I don’t think there’d be any justification for Europe or (especially) Canada to continue to treat it as an ally.

Not gonna lie statements like this make me wonder if they grasp the gravity of the situation? Obviously if a NATO member invades another NATO member it’s the end of NATO? I don’t think that’s gonna convince the freaks in the Trump administration to change their minds. In fact a lot of them would probably prefer a world without NATO.

Really feels like the EU is the crazy ex that can’t handle that the relationship is over.
Not that I’m happy about that, but that is clearly what has happened.
