Has a Nazi theorist’s vision of a world divided into ‘great spaces’ found a new advocate in Trump? | Carl Schmitt wanted empires that dominated the small countries in their orbits. But the US president’s chaotic actions are not that strategic

  1. *Submission statement*

Carl Schmitt has not only fans in Russia, but also in Germany, where many of his intellectual heirs are members of the AfD, dreaming of a new *Großraum* with Germany as ist centre and cheering on Trump’s foreign policy adventures:

    >Member of the Bundestag Maximilian Krah already has a solution for the reorganisation of Europe: with the help of the USA, ‘we will get rid of the EU, which is currently ruinous for Germany,’ he writes on the news service X. His idea is a German-Austrian-Hungarian axis like in 1913. This would bring Germany back onto the foreign policy stage. ‘It’s realistic, certainly courageous, but it can be done with Trump, Vance and Rubio.’ Krah seems confident of the support of the American president, vice-president and foreign minister.

Something I keep mentioning is that direct NATO members represent about half of the worlds gdp.

A united NATO is the world hegemon. We are the unipole. There is no one that we should be abandoning to be satellites of Russia or China or whoever.

These morons are giving up essentially half of a hyper power for no fucking reason.
