  1. Why is this relevant: The last few weeks of polling in Portugal have been quite unpredictable, with four candidates converging in the polls. The first round ended with the centre-left and far-right candidates advancing into a highly contested runoff. However, the projected support behind the centre-left candidate in the second round stands in stark contrast with the rest of Europe where moderate left candidates are at a backfoot. To add to it, Seguro is supported not just by the Socialist Party of Portugal, but also by Volt Europe, giving a strong voice to eurofederalism.
